What's New at Lockport City Council

First Ward Alderman John Collier and I are working with the mayor and the rest of the City Council to bring responsible commercial and residential growth to our City.

The News/Issues page on this website will keep you up to date on some of these developments, so please take a moment to visit that page by clicking on "News/Issues" tab on the left side of this webpage.

Many residents have asked about the status of road improvements in the First Ward, and Alderman Collier and I are working on these as well.  The City Engineer is using cutting edge technology to analyze our streets and to create a list that is prioritized by need.  The Infrastructure and Capital Improvement Committee will also be meeting to expedite the improvements that are needed.

During the June 27, 2007 City Council meeting, Alderman Collier and I dedicated funds for road improvements on 151st Street and are also investigating ways to improve Gougar Road from 151st Street to Lemont Road.

Alderman Collier and I have also recommended that the Police Department develop an aggressive overweight truck enforcement program to deter companies from sending their overweight trucks on Lockport roads that are not built for such use.

Some of the permanent road improvements will be coming after the I-355 extension is completed, because we need to coordinate these improvements with the Illinois Department of Transportation.

Don't forget to send me an email with your suggestions for City improvements, whether they be street-related or otherwise!

Thank you for your continued support and please do not hesitate to call or email me with your ideas on how I can better serve you and your families!
